An Oasis of Regret

The plateau of Iran with its hard climate and shortage of water is an inappropriate location for the construction of gardens. But still, there are a lot of quality gardens to be registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This is not just about gardens; the Iranian culture has been always into creating beauty and the manifestation of paradise through history. However, there is a dark side: The magnificent architecture of mosques and palaces with colorful glass and tiles and huge arches located in the heart of cities where most of the houses are made of adobe and mud and the gardens are as oasis within the desert. The invisible threads are a manifestation of the corner structure of Iranian domes -one of the important features of traditional Iranian architecture, that can also be seen in Islamic geometric patterns. The invisible patterns in space reflect transcendental beauty by reflecting light on a dark background, a beauty in nothingness, an oasis of regret.
